Introduction
History
Builders Industries was started in a small rental place at Waltax Road, Madras (Now Chennai) by Shri G. Mallikeswaran & Late Mr. K. Natarajan in 1956. Started with manufacture of door-bolts, handles, & locks in phosphor bronze, iron and G.I. Expanded the capacity to accommodate manufacturing & dealership of nuts and bolts. In 60’s the company got a new line of business as a fabrication unit, the first customers being ‘Alvitone’ – a major food manufacturer of that era. The company was on an expansion process and moved to a bigger fabrication yard at Tiruvottriyur. New machines were bought to increase the capacity & capability of the organization. The first breakthrough in fabrication came from Indian Oil Corporation for whom huge tanks were made. The company established itself as a heavy fabrication unit when it performed successfully structural works for B.H.E.L. at both Trichy & Ranipet facilities. Through the goodwill earned and networking, BI got new customers like Bharath & Associates, Jayam Consultants, Dalmia Cements, FLSmidth (Fuller India), Schwing –Stetter, KCP, Vanavil Dyes, Fives Cail – KCP, Aumund Engineering, etc. BI completed various onsite projects for clients like BHEL, Trichy, AVT, Vanavil Dyes (Now Clariant Chemicals), FLSmidth, LSM – Coimbatore.
In the late nineties, the descendants of Mr. Natarajan had retired from the business and the company was managed by the sons & daughter-in law of Shri Mallikeswaran. At the dawn of the new millennium, BI started expanding globally when it first completed export orders of Kiln fire-hood for Pennesco Cements, Essrac from Mexico and IKN-Germany. In 2011, the company shifted its manufacturing activities to a newer bigger facility at Sirugavur, Redhills, Chennai from where it is operating today. BI further expanded its client base with other noteworthy clients like Takraf India, L&T, ISGEC, KFA etc. After all the earlier partners had retired, Builders Industries is currently growing under the partnership of Shri M. Lakshman Narayanan, son of Shri Mallikeswaran & Shri R. Venkataraman, son of Mr. M. Rajagopalan & grandson of Shri Mallikeswaran. Builders Industries ever since it was started is bound to Quality, commitment and continuous learning.
